How to Clean Your Kitchen in 45 Minutes

Cleaning your kitchen in under 45 minutes is possible if you choose to apply a top-to-bottom cleaning method and a clockwise routine that includes cleaning the trash, washing and unloading dishes, cleaning counters, appliances, and sweeping and mopping floors. Make sure to prepare all the products and tools beforehand to achieve maximum efficiency.

Prepare for Cleaning

Cleaning the kitchen in under 45 minutes requires the right preparation. If you have all of the tools and products ready beforehand, cleaning the kitchen would be a piece of cake. You will need a broom, an all-purpose cleaner, a powdered cleaning product, several microfiber cloths, a sponge, a toothbrush (optional), a razor blade or scraper (optional), and an apron with pockets or even jeans with belt loops. Make sure to use eco-friendly products.

Put your all-purpose cleaner, sponge, and four rags into your apron pocket. You can also add the toothbrush and razor blade/scraper if you have them. If you have no apron and are wearing jeans, put the glass cleaner in the left belt loop, the all-purpose cleaner in the right belt loop, and some rags in your pocket. Place the broom, comet, and the rest of the microfiber cloths to the right of the sink. This will be your starting point.

What to Clean in a Kitchen?

Clean from right to left and top to bottom. Look up, clean, then move down. Use your all-purpose cleaner and rag to clean every surface. If the dirt does not come out easily with the rag, you can try your sponge or your razor blade instead. This is a deep cleaning checklist, so make sure to hit the surfaces of every cabinet. Also, make sure to clean behind the appliances as well. You can also use your toothbrush along with a little bit of all-purpose cleaner to get in between the buttons of your appliances.

01. Stove

The hardest part of the kitchen to clean is the stove. Once you get to the stove, remove all of the burners and place them in the sink. Now that they are off, blast the stove with your all-purpose cleaner. While the stove is covered in cleaner, let it sit for a minute, then scrub it with a sponge. Letting it sit for a minute is important because the cleaner does the work for you.

If you have a stainless steel stove, spray the surface down with a special, non-abrasive cleaning product and do not use an abrasive sponge. Instead, use a clean microfiber cloth, and it should look as good as new. This task should take up to 20 minutes for the product to set and to clean.

02. Refrigerator

When you get to the refrigerator, you don’t need to clean everything inside. The vertical surfaces don’t get as dirty as horizontal ones. Just spray the dirty spots with your all-purpose cleaner and then wipe them down. Make sure to disinfect the handles and look for any fingerprints or dirty spots, and spot clean them with your all-purpose

If you have a stainless steel refrigerator, use special non-abrasive products instead of an all-purpose cleaner. Spray the refrigerator lightly and make sure to wipe it dry with a clean rag to avoid streaking. Never use abrasive sponges to clean the refrigerator, as you can damage the finish.

03. Oven

Cleaning the kitchen in under 45minutes requires quick addressing of the oven. Deep cleaning the inside of the oven may require extra time. Cleaning the oven takes time because you need to leave the products to set and to dissolve the hard stains. If the inside is in good condition, you can still manage to clean everything in under 45minutes.

To clean the glass door and surfaces, spray the glass with all-purpose product (or glass cleaner if you prefer), wait a few seconds, and then wipe it. If dirt from the inside doens’t come easily, you can use a razor blade to gently scrape it. Once you finish cleaning, the glass should be transparent again.

04. Microwave

If you want to clean your microwave quickly, remove the inside circle and spray the interior with your all-purpose cleaner. Then wipe down with your rag. If it is difficult to clean or there is a lot of stuck-on debris, you can use a sponge, or you can get fancy and try the lemon trick. To do this, squeeze a lemon and some water into a small bowl. Then microwave them for 5 minutes on high. The acid from the lemon will loosen the debris from the inside of the microwave, and then you can easily wipe it off with your cloth.

05. Sink

Use the faucet to get the whole sink wet, then sprinkle non-abrasive cleaner to cover the whole sink. Let the chemical work its magic for one minute, then use your sponge to scrub it in. Rinse it out with water and use a cloth to polish. Your sink should now be very shiny. Another stainless steel warning: If you have a stainless steel sink, always use your all-purpose cleaner instead of your abrasive or you will scratch your sink.

06. Floor

The last item on our list. Cleaning the floor is a two-step process that involves sweeping and mopping. Sweep all of the loose debris together, and scoop it up with either a wet paper towel or a dustpan. You can also use a vacuum with a brush attachment. Now you can wet mop it. Cover all the areas and let it dry. Now your kitchen is sparkling clean!

Final Thoughts

Cleaning your kitchen in under 45 minutes may sound like an impossible mission, but with good preparation and organization, it is manageable. Of course, the final amount of time you will spend depends on the size of your kitchen and the level of dirtiness, but in most cases, it can be done in that timeframe. Covering all areas and cleaning from top to bottom helps create a clean and organized space in just under an hour.
